When I !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! after installing my new suspension, the -2.5° front camber setting created a bunch of extra space between the top of my tires and the fender. Since BMWs use wheel bolts, it’s very easy to put spacers on them. So I did.

I wasn’t sure how exactly to measure for the size of spacer I need, but I found !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! that showed a guy using a carpenter’s square.

Made sense to me, so I bought a cheap !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! at Harbor Freight, and found right about an inch of clearance to the inner fender lip. Since I wanted to avoid rubbing, I decided on !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! , because they include extended wheel bolts for a good price.

I also got a cool !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! to align the spacers and wheels, and this !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! that’s got some kind of plastic (Delrin maybe?) coating on the outside to not scuff up the lug holes in the wheels.

I’m very happy with the results. I don’t want to be hellaflush, but this got rid of the excessive clearance quite nicely.

this is all very neat and tidy. the coated socket is nice, the wheel pin is handy, the builders square was a good tip.

nicely done

Cool beans.

I have a set of those covered sockets I bought waaaaay long ago when I was a technician. Mine are beat to shit and some are missing their plastic covers, but they’re awesome at keeping wheels from getting scratched. I even got a kid at work to buy a set after he scratched a wheel on a Hellcat.

i was so excited to see you owned a (suspiciously shiny) framing square. Then I saw you bought it....

They’re not outlawed, you just can’t pass a safety with them.

Well done increasing your scrub radius, enjoy that greater steering feedback and harder steering effort.

My steering actually got a bunch lighter after my alignment so I’m fine if it firms back up a bit.

Increasing camber and adding spacers would kinda counter-act eachother for scrub radius, kingpin inclination probably got affected though that shouldn’t be too big of an issue.
